Project Summary

The Jean Monnet module "European energy security" aims to improve students' knowledge and encourage awareness, trust, and acceptance of the European energy security policy, thereby strengthening energy security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU. The project aims to educate students, non-governmental organizations, politicians, media, and the public about the energy system of the European Union, energy security challenges, strategies, and policies, such as the EU Energy Plan until 2050 and the European Green Plan. It will also encourage dialogue between universities in BiH and the EU on energy issues in education, research and politics, non-governmental organizations, and state organizations.

Project activities will include designing and implementing one-semester courses at the International University of Sarajevo in English on European energy security for all three study cycles - undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies. In addition, topics on European energy security will be included in the existing syllabi of the International Relations and Political Science study programs. This will bring an innovative curriculum and a greater capacity to research subjects about the European Union, especially regarding sustainability and energy. The project will also include public lectures and seminars that will bring together domestic and international energy security experts, representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil servants, the media, the public, and students. The participants will discuss energy security issues in the European Union and how to apply the rules of the EU internal energy market to the Western Balkans countries.
