Project Summary

As hygiene demands grow, especially post-pandemic, there is a need for innovative solutions to control contamination and reduce infection risks. Traditional methods of cleaning and using chemical disinfectants are often insufficient for long-term protection. The Pyrosafe project aims to introduce pyrophyllite, a mineral with natural antimicrobial properties, into the design of door handles. By utilizing pyrophyllite's catalytic properties, activated by light, the handles will offer a self-disinfecting surface, reducing the need for frequent cleaning and providing continuous protection against microbes.
