IUS Hosts the 1st Extended Core Group Meeting of COST Action CardioPharmaGENET
On October 1–2, 2026, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted the 1st Extended Core Group Meeting of COST Action CardioPharmaGENET (CA24165) in Sarajevo. The meeting was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research at IUS, and co-organized by Adna Ašić of Verlab Institute, Chair of the CardioPharmaGENET COST Action, together with Yvan Devaux, Co-Chair of the Action.
Led by Verlab Institute, CardioPharmaGENET is a pan-European research network dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care through pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine. By bringing together researchers, clinicians, and other stakeholders, the Action aims to support the integration of genetic information into clinical decision-making, enabling more precise treatments, improving patient outcomes, and reducing adverse drug reactions. It also promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and the use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to advance personalized healthcare.
The two-day meeting brought together members of the Action’s Core Group, Working Group representatives, Young Researchers and Innovators (YRIs), and other members of the network. Discussions focused on reviewing achievements from the first Grant Period, defining priorities for the next implementation phase, and strengthening scientific collaboration across the European network.
Hosting the meeting at IUS provided an opportunity to foster international scientific exchange and strengthen collaboration at the intersection of cardiovascular medicine, pharmacogenomics, and digital health.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and constructive discussions. Special thanks go to Adna Ašić and Yvan Devaux for selecting IUS to host the meeting and for their collaboration in making it possible, as well as to IUS students Iman Ehnech Seran and Ismar Aganović for their dedicated support, which contributed to the successful organization of the event.
